Carter McCalister was what coaches call a true program runner and one of the greatest male distance runners ever at Jefferson High School. He began his high school career running only 35 miles a week and finished running 65 miles a week. Carter was a state medalist two years in a row. He finished 26th in 2021 and was the Div. 2 State Finals Runner-up in 2022. Carter was also the Huron League Champion in 2021 and 2022. His lifetime best in a 5k Cross Country race was at the 2022 Regional at Milan HS in 15:07.39, which is also the current school record. Carter went on to run in college at Oakland University.
