Kaitlyn St. Bernard - 2018
Kaitlyn St. Bernard was what coaches call a true program runner. Without ever running Cross Country during her middle school years, she began her high school career running only 30 miles a week and finished running 50 miles a week. Kaitlyn finally qualified for the state finals during her senior year in 2017 after having just missed qualifying during her sophomore and junior seasons. She left no doubt that she was going to qualify by becoming the Regional Champion that season and beating her nearest opponent by 16 seconds. After suffering a gall bladder attack and being in the hospital only 2 days before the state finals, Kaitlyn rallied enough strength to finish 8th at the MHSAA Lower Peninsula Division 2 State Finals in a lifetime best time of 18:29.8. Kaitlyn has continued her running at Eastern Michigan University.
